For Bryan Sellers, each achievement he has experienced has set the stage for the next. Every accomplishment has come with a pre-determined goal to continually move forward - standard procedure for any aggressive young person who wants to succeed. Except in motorsports, where many competitors and multiple obstacles seemingly try to force a driver to the pitlane.
Bryan Sellers learned quickly because he knew knowledge was power. In fact, he pursued opportunities in racing by winning scholarships - with Skip Barber Racing, Team USA and Lynx Racing. These paid off with three series championships, including the 2002 Formula Ford Zetec title. Bryan Sellers developed an excellent reputation and always knew when to ask the right question - "what's next for me?"
"At the end of the driver runs and test days, I would always ask where I could get better and what they would have liked to have seen from me," Bryan Sellers says. "That's how you learn." Fortunately, for Bryan, the questions drew more lessons and more opportunities to compete.
"I approached the sport and wanting to learn as no matter what they had to say to me, I was going to take it with a smile and be okay," Bryan Sellers continues. "It went a long way. I not only learned a lot, but I made friends. People wanted to work with me because they knew I genuinely wanted to hear what they had to say."
Bryan Sellers, an Atlanta resident, often runs defensive driving clinics for teens at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and offers private coaching for young drivers: work hard, persevere and make as many contacts as possible.
For Bryan Sellers, his early acquaintances became long-term mentors and friends, and helped Bryan develop an excellent reputation in the sport. Connections and networking are everything, but skill has to play just as significant a role. Bryan Sellers has it all, and earned a good ride in the 2008 Rolex Grand-Am series driving an Infiniti G35. His time in that car was noticed by the personnel putting together Team Falken's 2009 ALMS GT2 effort, and he was invited to become co-driver of the Porsche 911 RSR that Falken will enter this year, shod with Azenis RT Slicks. Bryan Sellers admits he's very excited about his new program, partnered with veteran Dominic Cicero.
"Being where you need to be will pay off," he declares, adding that "positioning yourself in the right place is so critical." It appears Bryan Sellers has done just that as he prepares to compete in a very competitive series and race car.
