FALKEN TIRES' Drivers Bedwell And Merrill Take 3rd In Nor Cal Class 4500 At Prairie City SVRA And 3rd In Championship
Mike Bedwell of 4540 Motorsports, driving a Falken Tires-sponsored Class 4500 buggy, continued his strong pace in the tough Nor Cal Rock Racing series by earning third place last weekend in Round 3 at the Prairie City SVRA track in Rancho Cordova, CA, outside Sacramento. His performance earned the team third overall in the Class 4500 championship.
Though he and co-driver Kory Merrill qualified first, the track’s demanding conditions and a failing fuel pump proved to be equal challengers, but the duo punched through to a third place finish.
“It was hot, dry and dusty all day,” admitted Bedwell. “Weather conditions are always tough, but we had no flat tires from the course, and that’s what kept us moving forward, despite the fuel pump. Our third place put us third overall in the championship and we’re pleased with the results.”
“No matter how you configure the Prairie City track, it’s always one of the roughest courses in the Nor Cal Rock Racing circuit,” noted Brandon Barberena, Falken Tires’ Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Despite the mechanical hardship, our Falken WILDPEAKs were flawless and helped propel ‘Mad Mike’ and Kory toward the finish. We congratulate the team on their finish to a tough, short season.”
