2010 Ford Mustang Release

November 20th, 2008
The evening of Tuesday November 18th marked a historic event honoring nearly five decades of the original pony car and was the official worldwide reveal of the new 2010 Ford Mustang.  Within the exclusive Santa Monica California venue, championship winning Mustangs from the past were displayed proudly as racing icons including John Force, Parnelli Jones, Jack Roush and the legendary Carroll Shelby shared their personal stories and Mustang accomplishments.

At center stage, the Falken Tire 2010 Ford Mustang made its grand entrance before hundreds of invited special guests and the world via online and television coverage by Speed Channel.  Falken's world-championship winning factory driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. entered the arena sliding sideways within inches of the k-rail barriers and a few million dollars worth of irreplaceable four wheeled stage props while under complete control thanks to the Falken Azenis RT615 shod muscle car.

Under the hood, the 4.6 liter Aluminator motor equipped with a Ford Racing Whipple Supercharger packs a serious punch pushing upwards of 650 hp.  Built by Autosport Dynamics in Charlotte NC; additional modifications to the 2010 include quick-change rear end gearing, highly adjustable suspension components and extreme chassis lightening allowing the car to weigh in at just less than 2,500lbs.

Team Falken had campaigned the earlier generation Stang for four years to numerous 1st place podium finishes including the D1 Grand Prix USA vs. Japan event in 2005 and the D1 World Championship in 2007.  Neither of those events had ever been championed by a domestic vehicle or an American driver until Team Falken and Vaughn Gittin Jr. made history…twice.

At the reveal, the Falken 2010 Mustang wore Ford's factory option Grabber Blue hew but expect to see this same vehicle in Falken's worldwide recognized motorsport teal and blue livery before year's end upon it’s official competition unveiling.

Undoubtedly, the combination of Ford's new Mustang, Falken Tire's proven road gripping power and Vaughn's highly skilled driving will be a force to watch in the 2009 Formula Drift Championship Series.
